Inspect SpecIn modern commercial and architectural lighting design, the LED aluminum profile has transitioned from a basic aesthetic enclosure to an essential mechanical and thermal component. For developers, contractors, and luminaire OEMs, understanding the metallurgy, mechanical tolerance ranges, and heat transfer efficiency of these systems is critical for ensuring target operating lifetimes of high-efficacy LED arrays.
“An increase in LED junction temperature from 65°C to 85°C can result in a 30% reduction in operating lifetime (L70) and significant lumen attenuation. Choosing the correct aluminum alloy chemistry and profile shape is the single most critical decision for thermal management.”
Selecting the proper alloy composition is critical when designing extrusions for structural durability and optimal thermal dissipation. At Qingdao Kangjian, our structural profiles are typically manufactured from Alloy 6063 and Alloy 6061:
Known for its excellent surface finish, corrosion resistance, and thermal conductivity (~200 W/m·K). This composition is optimized for extrusion of intricate, thin-walled shapes. It is the industry standard for architectural LED profiles, cabinet channels, linear lights, and decorative trims. T5 tempering (air cooling and artificial aging) guarantees a tensile strength of ≥ 160 MPa and yield strength of ≥ 110 MPa.
Optimized for structural integrity. Contains higher amounts of silicon and magnesium, resulting in a tensile strength of ≥ 290 MPa and yield strength of ≥ 240 MPa. This alloy is preferred for heavy-duty applications such as drone chassis, smart robotics frames, cable ladders, and structural industrial platform fittings.
The lifetime of solid-state lighting (SSL) is determined by the heat dissipation of its driver and LED module. Aluminum extrusions act as the primary heat sink by transferring thermal energy from the PCB to the surrounding air via conduction, convection, and radiation. Designers must evaluate the power density (Wattage per meter) of the light source against the surface area of the profile. A typical 20W/meter LED strip requires a minimum of 130 cm² of surface area per linear meter to maintain junction temperatures safely below critical levels.

Qingdao Kangjian is certified to meet global manufacturing and engineering standards. Our factory maintains active quality registrations including:
Established in 2022 and located in the Jimo District of Qingdao, China, Kangjian has grown into a leading industrial base for customized aluminum profile manufacturing. Backed by five advanced extrusion lines (ranging from dual 700T lines, 1150T, 1450T, to a heavy-duty 2500T extruder), our facility delivers precision-engineered solutions for high-speed rail, automotive components, smart robotics, aerospace, marine engineering, and architectural building systems.
Our strategic coastal location near Qingdao Port enables seamless containerized shipping access, providing logistical advantages that reduce transit times and shipping costs for customers in South Korea, Japan, the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia.
Why international procurement teams partner with Qingdao Kangjian for large-scale custom aluminum profile production.
We manage the complete production cycle in-house: from initial CAD and tool design to billet casting, custom extrusion, heat treatment, CNC machining, and surface finishes (anodizing, powder coating, sandblasting).
Our production line includes a 2500T extruder, enabling us to manufacture wide architectural profiles and large structural components with wall thicknesses down to 0.8mm, while maintaining tight tolerances.
Located in Qingdao's industrial corridor, we utilize port logistics to support fast international deliveries. Our team manages customs clearance and global logistics to ensure on-time delivery.
Founded in 2022 along the Yellow Sea in Qingdao, Kangjian was established to address a growing market need: the demand for localized, high-end aluminum extrusion that meets strict international tolerances.
By pairing technical expertise with advanced machinery, we have grown from a regional supplier into an international exporter. Our structural extrusions are used in infrastructure projects, automotive parts, and high-specification building systems worldwide.
"Producing high-end aluminum materials and serving global customers" is our core manufacturing standard. From gantry cranes in Nordic ports to architectural lighting installations in modern metropolitan offices, Kangjian profiles provide long-term structural reliability.
Through partnerships with material science labs and investments in research and development, we continue to develop innovative products. This work ensures that our profiles offer the strength, surface finish quality, and thermal performance required for modern commercial projects.

Custom extrusion tooling is essential for manufacturing complex, multi-hollow profiles that cannot be made with standard dies. At Qingdao Kangjian, our tooling engineers design and simulate dies using finite element analysis (FEA) to model aluminum flow, temperature distribution, and pressure during extrusion. This engineering step prevents wall distortion, reduces internal stress, and ensures consistent dimensions over long production runs.
After a tool is cut, our fabrication team tests the die and conducts mechanical validation runs. Samples undergo coordinate measuring machine (CMM) testing to verify that all dimensions match the client's blueprints. This rigorous process allows us to maintain ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 compliance for complex industrial custom designs.
Answers to technical questions about materials, mechanical tolerances, surface finishes, and custom orders.
For custom profiles, tool design and die fabrication typically require 10 to 15 business days. Once the die is completed, sample runs are extruded and tested. Standard dimensional checking and sample delivery take an additional 5 to 7 days, resulting in a total lead time of 15 to 22 days from approved technical drawings to physical sample validation.
Alloy 6063 contains magnesium and silicon ratios that balance mechanical strength with high thermal conductivity (approx. 200 W/m·K). The T5 temper provides structural stability and resistance to deflection, while producing clean, smooth surfaces that are well-suited for high-quality decorative anodizing or powder coating.
The thickness of the anodized oxide layer directly determines durability. For dry indoor applications, an anodizing layer of 5 to 10 microns is standard. For high-moisture or outdoor environments, such as marine fittings, bathroom hardware, or exterior architectural lighting, a layer of 15 to 25 microns is recommended to prevent pitting and corrosion over time.
Our high-speed CNC machining centers work to ISO 2768-m (medium) and ISO 2768-f (fine) standards. For critical aerospace, drone, and automotive components, we can maintain tolerances down to ±0.02mm, depending on the part geometry and tool setup.
We use a multi-step inspection process to verify structural performance, including spectral analysis of incoming billets, tensile strength testing, Rockwell hardness testing, and ultrasonic weld inspections. Our welding operations are certified to EN 15085 standards, ensuring that structural frames meet safety requirements for high-speed rail and automotive assembly.
